Stylin' at Lake Laura in Virginia!
This week we had our 5th wedding anniversary so we took a much needed weekend trip out of the city to the Shenandoah Valley. We found a nice little country bed and breakfast that would let us bring Cayenne. This is probably the last trip we'll take before Aeneas comes.

Here's a good one of belliful Emily cutting the cake at her baby shower. We wonder if Johns Hopkins researchers have found chocolate cake beneficial for pregnant women, hmmm...

We got some nice gifts from her classmates. Lots of items with ducks on them. It seems as if its been decided that little Jack's official animal is the duck. He also recieved his first ball mit. Perhaps he really is meant to be a catcher.

And so we've updated the baby registry. To find it just type Jared Wood into the baby registry search at Amazon.com

Aeneas is wiggling and jiggling and generally making his mother uncomfortable. But, otherwise, the doctors say we're both well. As my classmates and I open up to each other, I've found they're quite excited about the baby. They've been informed that I won't be anyone's required "birth experience" for the year. Now that they've been tricksy and thrown me a surprise party, I'm hesitant about telling anyone when I go into labor. Since I'll be just across the street from the medical school, we may have a whole lot of visitors.

The Johns Hopkins MD/Phd class of 2014. The kids that the smart kids make fun of for being smart. Some will go on to research diseases, others will invent medical procedures, all will surely make an impact. But for today they were just humble friends who threw Emily a surprise baby shower.

New Computer, New Camera. Let's see how long it takes for us to figure out how to work this stuff.

WELL...

We got the internet hooked up...But we were promptly broken into and had our laptops & digital camera ripped off. Welcome to the neighborhood...Good news for the blog is that once the insurance check comes in we'll wind up with a better digital camera than we had before.

Emily is still doing superbly, as she does in all things. Her fundus is progressively growing and her linea nigra is appropriately dark. Five more weeks!

We still haven't been able to get internet hooked up at our new house, so we are feeling rather disconnected. School started August 28th and I already had my first exam this on September 7th. We'll write more when we get hooked up.

For anyone who was thinking about buying us baby gifts, we wanted to let you know that we have a registry at Amazon.com. You can find it anytime by searching for Jared Wood at http://www.amazon.com/babyregistry.

We bought a house!

That's right, we're homeowners in the city of Baltimore. On August 23rd, we closed on a 3 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom row-house in the Ednor Gardens neighborhood. It has beautiful wood floors and a tiny, detached garage. And, its all ours.
